High Chiefess Keopuolani was the high rank sacred wife of Kamehameha the Great and she was the mother of Prince Liholiho, Prince Kauikeaouli and Princess Nahienaena.  Her father was Kiwala'o (Son of King Kalaniopu'u) and her mother was Kekuiapoiwa Liliha (daughter of Keoua Nui).

 

After Kamehameha died, her eldest son, Liholiho, ascended the throne under the title of Kamehameha II. Kamehameha I's favorite wife Kaʻahumanu was Kuhina Nui (regent of the kingdom) assisting Liholiho, which Keopuolani supported very much.

 

Keopuolani died on September 16, 1823 The funeral procession was held on September 18, 1823. She now rests at Waiola Church and Cemetary with her daughter and other royal family members.
