Princess Kinau's father was King Kamehameha I and her mother was Queen Kalakua Kaheiheimalie.
Kinau was married to her half-brother Liholiho (King Kamehameha II), and later she married Chief Mataio Kekuanaoa. They had 4 sons, Prince David Kamehameha, Prince Moses Kekuaiwa,Prince Lot Kapuaiwa (King KamehamehaV), Prince Alexander Liholiho (King Kamehameha IV), and one daughter Princess Victoria Kamamalu.
Princess Kinau became the Kuhina Nui when Queen Kaʻahumanu died.
The Princess died on April 4, 1839, she now rests at the Royal Mausoleum.
