Hawaiian Royalty Celebrate Honors for HRH Don Duarte in Portugal

HRH Prince Noa Kalokuokamaile III at Fatíma.

A delegation representing HRH Princess Owana Kaʻōhelelani travelled to Portugal on the 29th of September, 2018 at the invitation of HRH Dom Duarte Pio, Duke of Braganza and Head of the Royal House of Portugal.  HRH Prince Noa Kalokuokamaile and Prince Michael Kalani were accompanied by Chancellor Dr. Paul Klieger of the Royal House of Hawai’i.  The duke was recipient of the IXth Annual International Dr. Otto von Habsburg Award for his humanitarian activities worldwide.  The award was presented to the duke by H.I. & R.H. Archduchess Monika von Habsburg, daughter of Dr. Otto von Habsburg and granddaughter of the Blessed Emperor Karl and Empress Zita of Austria-Hungary, and her cousin Archduke Joseph Karl von Habsburg.   

 

The weekend was also an occasion for the IXth International Indulged Pilgrimage to the Marian shrine at Fatíma and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, led by the Bishop of Sāo Tomé and Principe, H.E. Manuel António Mendes dos Santos.  The events included a meeting of the Prester John Institute and the inauguration of the Royal Lipsanotheca Chapel at Ourém Castle in Portugal.  At the General Assembly of 28 September 2018, it was clarified and reaffirmed that the institute only recognizes as head of the royal house of Georgia, HRH Prince Davit Bagrationi, and as head of the royal house of Hawai‘i HRH Princess Owana Kaʻōhelelani Salazar. Notable guests included HM King Yuhi VI of Rwanda, Prince Maurizio Gonzaga di Vodici, Duke of Mantua, and Count Pier Felice degli Uberti, head of the International Commission for Chivalric Orders.
